Den leaders: please make sure that you pass this information on to the families in your den that do not have email addresses. Several of the new families do not have email addresses.

Reports & Calendar of Upcoming Events
The Pack Committee has asked that families contribute $ 1/week for each boy for dues to help support the activities of the dens and the pack. Turn in to your den leaders weekly, monthly or by the school semester.
Dens 3,4,5 will meet 11/2 and some of the Tigers
Webelos Dens Buffalo & Fox will meet Sat. 11/7 at Mr. Miller’s.
Den 2 meets Thurs. 11/5 at Mr. Ford’s House.
Tiger Cub Den 1 will begin meeting at 5 PM on Tuesdays at Neverfail Church beginning Tuesday November 3rd.
CONGRATULATIONS TO DEN 2 . . . the ONLY DEN with 100% attendance at October’s Pack Meeting last Thursday! Great Job!
PACK 170 has been challenged to a Flatt Stanley contest by Pack 172 Crossville. Flatt Stanley needs to be home by Thanksgiving.
Be collecting tattered, torn and worn out American Flags.
Save them for the November 14th Catoosa District Cub Scout Hike.
There will be a Flag Retiring Ceremony that evening.
Let your friends, neighbors and workplaces know.
Thursday Nov. 5 6:30 PM 1st Methodist Church, Crossville Catoosa District Roundtable for all Registered Leaders who can possibly be present. Final plans for District Hike will be made.
Saturday, November 14th Catoosa District Cub Scout Hike at Cumberland Mountain State Park should have a flag retiring ceremony again like last year. Rain date scheduled for 11/21. Pack 170 is ‘hosting’ this district event. As host we will need our registered leaders and parents to volunteer to serve:
8 people at registration tables 9 AM until 11 or 11:30,
People to make direction signs,
2-5 people serve as guides to trail heads,
Several people to hike with the Pack 170 boys
and many other tasks to coordinate all the day’s events.
A sign up list will be available at Roundtable on Thursday.
Let your den leader know what you are willing to volunteer for.
The $ 4 early registration fee is due before Roundtable on Thursday Nov. 5th. Registration is $ 5 if not paid by then. Give your money (cash or checks to “PHACSA”) to your Den Leader. Den Leaders get money and Den Registration Form to Eliot at or before Roundtable 11/5 along with names of volunteers for the above tasks.
ELIOT WILL BE PRESENTED HIS WOOD BADGE BEADS BY COUNCIL TRAINING PERSONNEL AT A CEREMONY RIGHT BEFORE THE FLAG RETIRING CEREMONY AT THE DISTRICT CUB SCOUT HIKE. A YEAR OF HARD WORK & SCOUT TRAINING COMPLETED!
Thursday, November 19th at 6 PM: Pack Meeting (Pleasant Hill Community House has been reserved.) Pack meetings are important gatherings of all the dens. This is opportunity to show off a project or activity that your den has worked on in the past month. It is also an important opportunity to take time to honor our boys for their advancements and for their achievements. Too often boys are crying out for recognition in all the wrong ways so it is an important aspect of Cub Scouting to provide them quick (monthly) recognition of their accomplishments. Cub Scout families should be proud of ALL the boys in addition to your own.
Monday, November 30th. Deadline for payment of 2010 national BSA membership fee for each boy and leader. The registration fee has increased from $ 10 to $ 15 (Our units must renew our charter each December and all our memberships run January 1st through December 31st) There is also a $ 1 per boy and leader fee for council provided insurance. Boys Life magazine continues to be $ 12/year. So you will owe $ 28 with Boys Life or $ 16 without Boys Life. Checks need to be payable to “PHACSA” and be marked “2010 registration.” Let your den leader know if you need more time to pay the registration so that your boy is not dropped from the charter and be required to re-register with new application.
Thursday Dec. 3 6:30 PM 1st Methodist Church, Crossville Catoosa District Roundtable for all Registered Leaders.
Saturday, Dec. 12th Pack 170 will have a Pack hike. This one will be on Yellow Bluff Trail to the Boar Hog Gap overlook (only about 2 miles round trip) in the Pocket Wilderness. Details of that event will be worked out closer to December. We have invited Cub Scout Packs 331 BonDeCroft School, Black Fox District, Middle Tennessee Council and Pack 107 Crab Orchard School to hike with us.
Thursday, December 17th at 6 PM: Pack Meeting (Pleasant Hill Community House has been reserved.)
DENS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PLAN SPECIAL DEN ACTIVITIES DURING THE SCHOOL BREAK IN DECEMBER. Let the Cubmaster know your plans so they can be included in the newsletter. We need to find a time to reschedule the sail boat races. . .
Pack 170 could use two more Assistant Cubmasters and 8 more people to serve as den leaders and 2-3 more people to serve on the Pack Committee. Contact Christy Miller (Pack Committee Chair) if you are interested or would recommend someone.
Eliot has completed additional training so that he can offer some of the required leader training for Den Leaders, Committee Members and Den Chiefs. Watch for these trainings to be scheduled close to Pleasant Hill during the fall. “This Is Scouting” “Youth Protection Training” and “Fast Start” must be completed first so get started on those on-line trainings as soon as possible. Go to www.scouting.org and go to “My Scouting” and establish an account. Then you can log in and begin taking the online training courses.
LEADERS: PLEASE COMPLETE THE NEW ON-LINE COURSE “This Is Scouting” and email Eliot your completion certificate (or print copies for Eliot.) If your Youth Protection Training is not current, PLEASE take the training online ASAP and get Eliot your completion certificates.
